The Leapster Explorer was created by Leap Frog for kids ages four to nine. It is designed to build on  the skills children learn in school and provide an exciting way for them to apply themselves further and learn something new and exciting each day, and have fun while they are at it.

I’d recommend buying the protective case as it prevents damage from getting dropped or stepped on, and that is worth the cost you pay for it.

Overall, this gets flying colors with kids. They don’t even feel like they are doing work or anything extra to learn. In their eyes it is just a fun toy gadget that has a resemblance to other hand held gaming devices. Compared to those other gaming devices, this could definitely be considered reasonably priced. And the kids love to get online and explore Leapworld. They have a lot of great downloadable applications too.

The accessory has a solid construction and is somewhat damage resistant. The best part is that this game comes from the reputable Leap Frog Company. Rythm and Flow: This mode is pretty much like “Repeat the Beat.” The object of the game is to keep up with the rhythm and beat of the song by waving your hands through the semi-circles. If the player slips up, the song ceases to play and requires the player to start again from the beginning. Three levels of difficulty are available in this mode and only one player can participate at a time.

Free Style DJ: With this mode the player will be able to choose his or her track by waving their hands in the semi-circles.

Musicology: This mode allows the player to build songs by completing patterns. If you can make it through 5 patterns successfully, the song will be completed. It is bit like a puzzle, but with music. This mode has 3 levels of difficulty.

Versus Mode: This is a 2 player mode where the object is to build the pattern as you play and it will not stop until one person makes a mistake. If you like straight up one on one competition, then this mode is ideal for you.
