The Calico Critters Townhouse is a classic toy that has been around for quite a while. The townhouse was released in 1984 by Epoch Ltd. in Japan and has become one of the most popular holiday toys for 2010. The home is two levels and there is a staircase that allows creatures to move freely between letters. The location of the staircase is not fixed so it can be relocated as desired.

Though the home appears to be a complete home, the walls can be opened out to allow easy access for rearranging and adding new items. A range of optional furniture items can be purchased and used to give you child the chance to build the home that his or her imagination has designed for them. Though the home does not come with furniture, sets can be purchased separately. You can purchase kitchen, living room and bedroom sets, or you could make your own for a personal touch. Multiple sets are available for each room.

The home even includes light fixtures throughout the townhome. Fortunately these lights don’t have to be tied into your home’s electricity and can be run on two AA batteries. As with most toys, batteries are not included.

The Calico Critters Townhouse is only 12 x 12 x 12 inches which means it is the perfect size to sit on a table in a bedroom or playroom. Because the townhome can be closed, it can easily be stored when not in use. You can even store the animals and pieces inside neatly when the house is closed. Assembly is required for this product, but the pieces are easy enough for older children to assemble without the help of parents. If children wish to move the room divider or stairs, it is also easy enough for a child to complete the task.

The Game Cuponk

Cuponk is game made by Hasbro and designed for outdoor fun. Meant for children above the age of nine, this game will get your kids active with some fun physical activity. How to play Cuponk

The object of all three game sets is the same. And that is to toss a ping pong type ball into a cup. Upon a successful toss, the game lights up and makes a sound specific to each game version. For example, The Gorrilanator will make the sound of a, you guessed it, a gorilla. The El Campeon will mimic the sound of a crazed wrestler and the R.I.P game will make a sound that resembles the sound of a zombie. As you play, it will play little victory songs through its built in speakers. The game will come with a deck of cards with instructions on the method you should use to throw the ball. For example, if the card you draw says “bounce ball on your head and road to make the shot”, you follow the instructions and get the prescribed point.

The design of the ball is similar to that of a ping pong ball but carries a little more weight and is not quite as bouncy. It is safe for indoor play as it does not pose a danger of breaking something in the house.  The Gorrilanator will have a ramp leading up to the hole, “El Campeon” has a funnel and “Let it R.I.P” has a back board, similar to a basket ball hoop. Apart from the regular throwing instructions given by the cards; it will also give suggestions to come up with your own signature moves. If you miss, it will be the next players turn and so on.
