Restoring the SEO Quake Icon

So you updated your browser client Firefox and now your SEO Quake icon is no longer showing up in the toolbar? Or, you can see the icon but it is grayed out.Not to worry as I too have experienced this issue and the fix for these two, actually one problem, is quite easy to resolve in most cases.

If you cannot seem to find the icon, the problem is more than likely due to the fact that your “Add on” bar is not enabled for viewing. To fix this do the following:

  1. Open you Firefox browser client
  2. Go to the “View” menu item at the top of the menu bar
  3. Placed your cursor over the “Toolbars” menu item and locate the Ad-on Bar item and click on it. If it was disabled before, you will now be able to see this menu bar and the SEO Quake icon should now show up.

In cases where your icon is viewable but just grayed out, you just need to click on the icon to enable it. This easy click on and off feature is convenient as it allows you to easily temporarily disable the add-on without actually changing any setting in your browser.

For those of you who are not familiar with SEO quake and landed here after typing in some other related query, you might want to know what SEO Quake is.  Well here you go:

It is a plugin/addon for Firefox that allows you to see the PR (Page rank), Alexa ranking, number of links to a domain, the age of a domain, the number of pages indexed for a site, and other valuable statistical data about the websites listed on the page you are viewing in your browser.

For those who are internet marketers or those who wish to know how much competition they have for a blog or website they are building, this can be a very helpful browser tool bar gadget.
